Trencadis style is characterized by setting ceramic small pieces to produce colorful mosaics. It was born from the Catalan modernist architecture, where Gaudi is the most famous artist. This technic can be seen in “La Sagrada Familia” or in the Park Guell. The technic is also singular for recycling materials and the possibility to cover curved or straight surfaces.


Trencadis creation process
To produces a Trencadis craft, the artisan choses ceramics of different colors, although sometimes marble, stones or glass is also used. The artisan breaks the ceramic to craft the typical ceramic pieces. To finish, the artisan pastes the pieces around a figure or statue to produce a colorful mosaic
